I've been looking around and haven't found a ton of discussion about ranger pets. One of my favorite things about GW2 is the immense flexibility and customization of mounts, skins, characters and quality of life.

Pets in GW2 all have families, which share similar traits spreads and skills. There is one difference though between Guild Wars 2 pets, their “Active” skill (F2) is different and unique between all pets. That is, spiders all have the same trait value spread and the same base skills, but different F2 skills.

The technology just isn't there yet. I’d love to hide pet names for tamed pets but keep NPC names on. I like to see all interactable NPCs because I like to purchase every collectable and read every bit of dialogue/lore. If players could hide pet names, then my gazelles name of 'C C The Gotdamn Bar' would become rather useless.
IMO a huge thing that sets GW2 apart from other games is the depth of customization, personalization and cosmetics. From dyes, mount skins and even being able to skin the way you gather herbs/mine - GW2 is a personalization DREAM! The only place where it seems to down (again, IMO) is ranger pets. If you're a ranger your pet is a big deal!
Yea, Pets in gw2 Are very much passive or nonexistant in gw2 pve content. The only active use of pets are Druids using pets like Jacarandas to imobilise adds, or using electric wyvern to cc. With damage, they are basically Completely passive, and use 1 skill every 30 seconds.
PvE: Armor Fish (underwater) Devourers (underwater) Jungle Stalker (dungeons for damage buff, keep neutral because pets will die anyway) WvW: Jungle Stalker (same reason) Red Moa (still good for crit) Devourer (The stunning one. good damage and an extra stun) Spider (Immobilize one, same reason as devourer)
The standard diet of the swamp drake includes a variety of noxious marsh insects. The drake's digestive system isolates those unsavory poisons and enables them to breathe a venomous cloud to debilitate foes. Juvenile Marsh Drakes are amphibious pets that can be charmed by rangers . Marsh drake pets use the following skills .
Yes ferocious pets give not offensive stats when you are merged with them. The moa is the highest dps when you used it's f2 ability while inside twice as vicious, sic em and one wolf pack due to its multi hits. That being said I prefer the added cc from rock gazelle. Alacrity, fury, swiftness, might, resistance, regeneration, stability all shared with the group. It is also a powerhouse healer and condition cleanser capable of topping healing and cleanse charts.
