In my last game against a friend (he played Bonesplitters) my list was: Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar: Hallowheart. LEADERS. Freeguild General (100) - General - Veteran of the Blazing Crusade. Battlemage (110) - Mortal Realm: Ulgu (and 2 spells from Hallowheart) Battlemage (110) Currently the most popular choices for Stormcast Eternals are: Hammers of Sigmar. A Lord-Relictor as General with High Priest, Mirrorshield and Translocation. A Knight-Draconis. Dracothian Guard Fulminators. Vanguard Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows. Stormdrake Guard with lances. Thunderbolt Volley as the Additional Enhancement. I understand that age of Sigmar’s rules have changed recently but I would really appreciate to know what people’s thoughts are on the subject. Warhammer can be an expensive hobby so I don’t want to waste money on an army that either isn’t fun to play or is just down right terrible :) You will have a bit of a samey feel to your army though due to the lack of variety in poses and will need to do some work to create your command models. So, a 1K army list might look like this: Allegiance: Slaves to Darkness. – Damned Legion: Ravagers. – Grand Strategy: Hold the Line. – Triumphs: Not sure an exact one to one on play style as I don't play 40k. However Beastclaw Raiders are the most elite army in AoS. With a 2000 point list often having less than a dozen models. Though they are on the weaker end in the game due to their lack of ability to hold objectives well. So your main option to win is to table your opponent's army.
Gutbusters (Ogors) are all high point, high wound models. With their Mournfangs, Lead belchers, and Ironguts, you can make a well-rounded army. Even ally in a monster from Beastclaw Raiders. Stormcast Extremis chamber employs lots of Drakoth Riders, and supported by bows as your battleline, can be effective.
The Unquiet Dead. The only constant in the Mortal Realms is that death comes to all – yet that is not an end. From the underworlds of Shyish, the Great Necromancer sends the dead to do his bidding. Mindless skeletal legions march alongside swirling spirits as Nagash seeks souls that have evaded his grasp. Soulblight Gravelords.
You don't need a competitive army to win normal games against local players. You need a solid army. The same way you don't need to learn counting cards to play poker with friends. The same way you start with learning piece movement in chess before you start planning 5 steps in advance. tl;dr pick up Magore's Fiends and The Eyes Of The Nine and Sylvaneth are a unique army in Age of Sigmar, with a model line to match that has grown out of the old Wood Elf range. In-game Sylvaneth have an unusual hit and run playstyle, are active in every phase of the game, and can happily field lots of behemoths. They utilise unique abilities to move models around the board, and as such can be highly 5DjQZD.
